Primary Futures raises children’s aspirations by helping them to make the connections between their lessons and their futures.

Primary Futures

What is Primary Futures?

Primary Futures is a learning programme aimed at providing young people with the inspiration, motivation, knowledge, skills and opportunities they need to help broaden their horizons, raise aspirations and inspire them to achieve their potential.   This involves employees from various sectors coming into school and giving insights into their careers and activities.  Our volunteers will highlight which subjects their job relates to and brings learning to life for the children, as they can make the link between learning at school and their future.

How Does it Work?

We will have a specific curriculum link with our volunteers, usually between 6 to 10.  They will come in to school, where the children will try and guess their job by playing a ‘Yes/No’ no game.  After they have discovered the participants career, the volunteer will go into classes and talk about their roles and the importance of subjects in their roles.  The children are then given the opportunity to question the volunteer about their job, hopefully inspiring some pupils to look at this a career choice and aspire to
